he can already sit on a high chair
It’s amazing how babies grow so fast! Vien is now 9.5 months old and weighs about 10 kilos. He eats solid food like a pro. He loves to munch on ripe mango or sweet papaya as well as pandesal in small sizes every morning. He already knows that it’s eating time; when he sees me preparing his food with his own spoon and bowl, he would appear to cry (with matching closing and opening of eyes and pouting of lips). It’s as if he’s telling me “Hurry up, I’m hungry!”
He can crawl, climb, walk with support, and sit. He uses our furniture in the house to help him stand and cruise unaided. He has perfected his own game that involves standing up from sitting position; when already upright, he would remove his hands one after the other from our sofa until he’s standing on his own. Then for a couple of seconds, he would flap his hands for several times and smile at us before diving into a pile of pillows we carefully placed so he would not get a bump. This he does over and over till he gets tired. A dangerous game he learned on his own.
He knows how to use his feet and knees to climb up and down from chairs and stairs. He loves to climb up to our sofa but can’t climb down yet; he would crawl down and, if not aided, would smack his face unto our wooden floor. Hence, we are not allowed to sleep and wake up before he does, something that is hard to do since he has learned to wake up without any sound anymore. We wouldn’t know when he’s already awake unless he comes to us and slaps our faces.
This cute little rascal can crawl with speed. One minute he’s beside me, and then with a blink of eyelashes, he’s crawling away from me, toward our computer and TV area where electric cables abound! Oh no! He will have his first electric shock sooner than expected. Hehe
My little guy also helps me undress him. He would raise his one foot and then the other when I’m taking off his PJ. However, he is mostly irritated when I’m putting on his shirt; it’s a daily fight between us that goes away the minute his shirt is put on. My life is boring without him and his temper.
He enjoys watching Mickey Mouse, Goofy, and Donald Duck. He also laughs at scenes where there is Pluto. He also likes to watch Little Einstein then doze off in the middle of the show. He prefers slapstick comedy over educational cartoon programs, play over studying. Something tells me he’d grow up to be just like me! :O)
He enjoys objects that move, like the tree leaves when blown with the wind. A.’s rocking foot when eating, and of course our wall fan. He likes to play hide and seek with his tatay. He is also into banging and bumping objects. His favorite objects in the house are TV remote controls and cellphones. He would leave his most colorful toy at the sight of a cellphone and would grab it from one hand to the other, bang it on the floor, throw it, or just mouth it.
Last but not the least, he has learned to stand up unaided and take two to three steps on his own! My little guy is unstoppable. He seems to want to do so many things with those little hands and feet.
It’s fun to watch him grow and learn new things each day, while all of us are on the look out for unexpected bumps and bruises. Right now, A. and I are enjoying our daily routine with Vien. We are looking forward to seeing what he could do for the coming months, not exactly rushing him to grow up, though, but expecting more amazing milestones that will leave both A. and I in awe.
Isn’t it amazing how small things like Vien learning to stand can leave you in awe and make you so proud? It’s like one of those Simba moments when you want to raise him in the air and let everbody know how proud a parent you are.
well said rico. tnx!

Awww, what an adorable little guy you have. He’s precious. Before you know it he’ll be walking all over. It’s amazing how fast our little one’s grow. My little girl is going to be 5 in the fall. It feels like I just brought her home from the hospital. Thanks for stopping by and for your sweet comment. Take care.
