Vien has already four teeth. Yay!
And because of that, nursing him becomes difficult for me, especially when he’s really hungry. His suckle is a bit stronger and feeling his teeth everytime I nurse him, I tell you, is like anticipating a snake to bite me. Although Vien does hardly bite when he’s really in business, that is nursing quietly, he does bite sometimes when he’s over, or when I force him to nurse more despite his struggle appearing ready to fight me. And when he does that, it really really hurt!
I do want to breastfeed and pump until Vien’s first birthday. But with the rate of what’s going on, how am I gonna last till then?
Yesterday, while at work, I only pumped 8 oz. I used to bring home 10-12 oz or breastmilk a day after work. I knew this would come since Vien has started on solid food. My baby boy feeds less at night, though he is not sleeping through the night yet. The more he eats solid food, the less he wants my milk at night. I don’t have any problem with that because I really want him to sleep through the night, if that isn’t asking too much..
He’d wake up 2 to 3 times during the night, either he wants to feed or he wants to know that we’re still nearby, so I’d pat him on his side until he goes back to sleep. It never bothered me really to get up with him in the night because I’d just pull up my shirt to nurse him and it would lull him back to dreamland, quickly!
But I just found out that nursing him to sleep is not good. It won’t help him learn to go back to sleep by himself. Hmmm… patience, patience, patience. So I told myself.
Wow! Barely one year old and he has four teeth. My wife’s pamangkin Yuan will turn one this July and he doesn’t even have a single tooth!
Benefits of breastmilk!
nursing him to sleep is not good? that’s the initial reaction of adults, right? i learned something new today. hehe.
naka-shades pa si Vien for the summer ah!
well, i nursed Toby until he was 22 months old. and when I weaned him from breastfeeding at that age, it was the only time he learned to go to sleep without nursing. eventually, he no longer woke up during night to feed. now, he sleeps straight until morning.
it really depends on you… just let me know if you have any questions
you are right patience and determination is what you need
amazing! it just amazes me to read mom stories like this. i wish i’d be able to do this too when my time comes
naku my youngest has 6 at di naman sya nangangagat ng sadya kaya lang when he is drifting off to lalalaland ayun nakakagat ako.. suoer OUCH. I have been trying to wean him at night kse nga hindi matututo to sleep on his own kaya lang it’s quite a struggle kase what Chico wants, he will get it or he would kill us all with his screams.. hehe.. super bratty baby when it comes to feeding (or sucking)
