This coming December 25 is the birth of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ. May we all remember his greatness and thank Him for his love toward us. Have a blessed Christmas everyone!
Last saturday, Papa A and I bought a Christmas decor, finally! We’ve been wanting to buy one since the first day of December. We wanted to make this Christmas as special as we can because its our first Christmas with Vien. So excited already! Vien has something to stare at every night. I can see him so delighted every time the Christmas light is on. Well, only for a few minutes. He seems to be showing this easily-get-bored attitude already, something he inherited from me I guess he! he!
Anyways, I know that everyone would agree with me that the cool breeze of December is already apparent. Chrismas is really in the air. Ang lamig na! Hence, the season of colds and flu. Vien was not spared. He has been suffering from colds since Sunday night. It was my first time to see him very upset because he could not breathe. Frustrating talaga! He’d woke up several times at night crying because he could not breathe so I would carry him for a few minutes until he goes back to sleep. Nakaka-awa. This kind of iyak-karga went on for 3 days. Thankfully, he’s doing quite ok now. The medicine his doctor prescribed must have worked already. though he is still cranky because his nose is still a bit clogged. I do hope that in few days time, he’d be in his healthy self again.
It is really difficult for any parent to handle a sick baby. One thing I learned from this is to take care of one’s health and also those who are coliving with the infant. Vien’s father has been sick for more than 2 weeks now. Vien must have gotten the virus from him. His Yaya has also colds and cough. I gave Yaya vitamins and all the meds she needs - neozep, cough syrup, ascof tablets, and liniments, as per her request. Papa A is now taking multivitamins. We bought a lot of meds - cought syrup and capsules, vitamin C, multivitamins, expectorant etc. Our medicine closet looks like a drug store already. Preventive is better than curative. That’s another thing I learned the hard way.
Four people who have been able to see my son in person for the first time have told me that my 4-month-old son looks like a foreigner. Whoa! I know that he has a foreign-sounding name (and spelling too!) but foreigner-looking? Hmmm… I dont know with you but for me it means a lot! There’s not much more that I can say about that without sounding like I’m bragging. Seriously. A good question now is whether Vien looks more like me or his father. I asked around. My friends, my family… They gave different answers but majority of them quite hesitantly say that Vien got more of his features from his father. Really? That I cannot believe. Look again, please! In any case, I have to say that I am a very proud mother.
It was very very simple. I was so happy because almost all of my loved ones were present (they love vien more than Pacman hehe) - my Kuya Jul’s family, the Villafuerte family, our friends, and officemates. I said almost all because my other kuya (I have 2 siblings) and his children were not able to come. I hope on vien’s 1st bday, my two brothers and their families would be present (yeah im already thinking vien’s bday on july!).
The church was St Andrew’s Parish Church in La Huerte Paranaque. The ceremony was set at 11am. I went there a bit earlier because I had to attend the seminar for parents and godparents. Aris went to Baclaran to fetch up the litson. Lydia’s Lechon in Baclaran is one of the main branches. They dont have delivery service.
After the seminar, I went inside the church and saw Aris and Vien. Some of our guests were also there. The ceremony started a bit late. Vien behaved well and went to sleep half of the time. Yes! I thought he’d be cranky because of the clothes he’s wearing (a white polo and a cargo pants). He’s not used of wearing this kind of clothes. He wears cotton sando and just a diaper most of the time.
Afterwhich, we headed to the King Crab House along Ninoy Aquino Ave for lunch. I was surprised when I got there. RJ (my officemate) and her friend Jackie dressed up the place so nicely. The balloon pillar was a blast. I saw some of the guests taking pictures with it. The cupcake souvenirs (c/o RJ) were also an eye popper. One of the guests told me that the cupcakes look and taste good. Buti na lang pinasobrahan ko (I asked RJ to make 70 cupcakes). Some of the guests were happy to go home with more than one cupcake on hand! The kids (and the kids-at-heart) were also happy to have nips on the table. They also brought home some nips. The tarp nga pala was designed by Rizza and Carlo. Thanks guys!
The food was great and SO MUCH! I never thought that the serving would be that much. It was supposed to be table reservations. But we asked the manager to have the food in buffet. Aris and I were so worried if the food would be enough for 50 guests. We thought that the list might go longer, so we ordered for pansit and lumpiang shanghai and aris bought a few kilos of lechon. Unfortunately, my other kuya and his family (around 10 heads) did not come. In short, there were so many leftovers! I gave some to the guests and we brought home what was left of the food.
Generally, the event went fine. Thank you to all the people who helped out. You know who you are hehe. I wanna share some pictures taken on that day. Enjoy!
